Manarola , on the Italian coast, part of the 5 villages that form Cinque Terre. The houses, in terra cotta, egg yolk, and sugared almond pastels, cascade steeply and drunkenly down the hill to the sparkling bay. The town is filled with elderly people who walk slowly but tirelessly up and down cobbled streets, or plant vegetables in rows on the hill opposite. Beautiful, sleepy, sunny Manarola.
